Why Use AI for Skin Lesion Checks?
DERM has been validated in extensive clinical studies and NHS programmes, showing:
- 99%+ ability to safely rule out melanoma
- Performance equal to, or better than, specialist dermatologists
- Over 225,000 NHS patients assessed
- Faster access to care and reduced unnecessary referrals
How to Book an Appointment
To book an appointment you can email skinlesion@firstmedical.gpnet.je or call 01534 723318.
How it works
Our trained HCAs will take high-quality clinical and dermoscopic images of your mole/lesion using approved medical hardware.
These images are securely analysed by DERM, an AI system regulated to the highest medical device standards (CE Class III).
The AI provides a same-day assessment, helping our clinical team decide the safest and quickest next steps.

Before Your Appointment
You will receive a digital questionnaire via text or email.
The questionnaire must be completed before attending — responses go directly to the secure Skin Analytics portal.
Our HCA will call you the day before your appointment to go through the eligibility questions.
Your Appointment
You will attend your appointment at the location, date and time specified on your booking information. You will be seen by our HCA f who will photograph the lesion(s).
You may be asked to remove some clothing, make-up, or jewellery to gain a better view of the skin lesion. The photos will be taken by a smartphone, which uses an artificial intelligence (AI) medical device called DERM, developed by Skin Analytics, to analyse your skin lesion(s). Close-up and general photos will be taken of the skin lesion, as well as a dermoscopic image, where a dermatoscope is attached to the smartphone and placed onto the skin.
Results
The AI assessment is completed on the same day; DERM provides a suspected diagnosis and what the most appropriate next steps should be for your care.
The GP will then review the results and you will have a follow-up call scheduled for the following day.
